MA Chickenstock...

So, what is a chickenstock exactly? Do you have to bring chickens to swap or is it just a get together?

Actually a Chickenstock is sort of both.
You get to meet some people that love chickens as much as you and if you wanna swap birds or eggs you can too. It also includes food...

Sort of like a Potluck where chickens ARE NOT the main course.

I would love to buy some pullets from anyone in MA. as that is where I am. I would love to meet and swap and chat about chickens too but I am just starting and I don't have any yet. I ordered some jersey giants from Marias Jersey Giants and will get them around late april or early may I think. But the ZBA says I can have up to 12 hens so I am currently looking. Not having much luck in this state.

The New England Bantam Club is having it's spring show on May 6 at the Middleboro Armory. This one is for Bantams and Large Fowl and there's an auction section and a sale section.
The Brockton Fair also has a sale when it's going on July I think. I saw Silkies there a couple of years back.
I haven't seen any sales at the Marshfield Fair which is held in August.

LA's Coop du Jour lives down in Middleboro and Gemini on here lives in Scituate. I live in Weymouth.
Another big show is in Topsfield in the fall.
The Family Pet in Pembroke has chicks and the Fitts Mill in Scituate and in Hanson, I think has chicks. I don't think that any of them are "show quality" more likely "pet quality".

Thank you spottedcrow! I have been in contact with LA coop du jour and purchased. {won't have them until next month because I need to get my coop up.}
