Mad and Sad I lost 24 hens!

A bad moment. Pit bulls are not bad for attacking people, in spite of what the media says. But they do not like other dogs and that can be counted on. The owner is setting himself up for trouble with his neighbors if he allows them to run loose. No doubt, they would be like any other dogs around chickens.

Our pitbull is our livestock guardian dog. He's good protection around here, and takes care of the chickens, cats and rabbit like they're his family. With people, though, his tail is his most dangerous weapon. He can wag that thing hard!

At one point, though, when he was a pup, he killed 6 of my hens. It took some training, but we got him past it, and now he's the best dog ever. Now if we could just train the chickens not to eat his food when we feed him in the mornings... they keep him from getting fat!

We've had neighbor dogs kill chickens, twice. It's the most maddening thing ever. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that!
