Maddie the Silkie might be “Matt”

My approx 18 week precious Silkie has been crowing for a week and a half now. She is the only one of her breed (her “breed partner” died early on) so I have no physical comparison in my flock. These 7 chickens are our first and we got them at about a week old so we have so much to learn still.

We are beyond attached to Maddie so if she is a rooster, I need to know how I manage keeping him with my ladies. Rehoming is not an option at this point. Here are a couple of photos.

He is very sweet. All of the behavior that we misunderstood really so make sense now. We have every intention of keeping him but there is so much I need to know as I only learned about keeping a flock of ladies
