Two weeks ago, I asked around the community to see if anyone had some fencing to get rid of, as I have a fox problem, and lost 3 birds in the last few weeks. I want to set up a fence around the barn, and back into the woods, and electrify a few strands of wire along the perimeter.

I was fixin to head to Rural King tomorrow, when I got a call from a farmer across the valley, telling me he has several brand new rolls of 5' horse fence, and a shed full of 7' T-posts, and was wonderin if I was interested in doin a trade, or purchase.

Of course I was interested .....

In the course of the conversation, he mentioned he hears me shooting quite a bit, and asked where I'm getting ammo now, with the shortage, and price gouging goin on in recent weeks.

Well, I've been through this shortage scenario many times before, and stocked up on certain calibers, and after some discussion, I put 1,000 rounds of 5.56 on the proverbial table, and he immediately agreed to trade 2 brand new rolls of 5' horse fence, and 30 brand new T-posts for said ammo !!! What a country !!!

I shook his hand, and said "we have a deal my friend" !

I know, I know, "social distancing" and all, but he is an old timer, and a handshake really seals the deal !!!

In doing the math, the fence and posts come to around $500 dollars. Both rolls have a $169.00 price tag still on them. T-posts are around $4.50 each.

Several years ago, I got a deal on 10,000 rounds of 5.56 at .14 cents a round. That comes out to $140 dollars out of my pocket. The price per round nowadays is in the neighborhood of .35 - .40 or more cents a round ..... IF you can even find any, and IF someone will even sell you 1,000 rounds !!!

Even at todays prices, I got a good deal, am happy as heck, and he is happy as a hot chicken in a dust bath !

Now time to get to work !!!
