Thats really great and well explained too. Im going to make one for my hen, I've brought her in because its soooo cold outside, and she sometimes comes in the house anyway so now she can wander about indoors more freely. Thanks for sharing that

My beautiful boy, a Swedish Blue, is seven weeks old and we've had him in his egg from one day after fertilization. Long story but he had at best a 5% chance of survival and is now healthy, big and of course handsome and there's no way I could give hime back to be meat. A house duck was not something we had even considered especially since the city we live in does not allow it but I'm taking the chance that no one will find out. Following is the Amazon link for the pen we use. It had a zip off mesh top but we've not had a need to use it. I really like this one because it had a waterproof bottom and it can quickly and easily fold up to take it outside for a good cleaning and if I turn it upside down when it's clean it dries in a few min. We cover the bottom and a bit up the sides with craft paper and then puppy pee pads over the top which make quick cleanups super easy, 9 times out of 10 the poos hit just the pee pads so they can very quickly be rolled up with everything inside, thrown out and new puppy pads laid down and I'm done the whole job including washing his dishes in under 5 min. For an extra bit of security I have a clear, hard office chair mat that has been repurposed to go under his pen so that an unnoticed leak doesn't ruin my flooring.Okay. Here are the "instructions"
The sock is a kids size 7-8, I picked up a 3 pack for $1 so thats 6 diapers plus an 8 pack of shoelaces for $1 so 16 if those. Gotta love the $1 store never know what you'll find.

I made a slit down part of the "toe" section to make it easier to get on. There are holes cut in the "toe" on the top and in the neck strap (ankle).

In the "toe" I have a piece of doggy diaper (I found at a thrift store 10 XL for $1.50)
I am only leaving it on for 20-30 minutes at a time to get her used to it. She struggles a bit at first but calms quickly.
Problems so far- if she is just sitting on my shoulder, she reaches around and unties the laces. I need to find some other fastener but am not going to worry until she is bigger. I actually picked up to dog collars at the $1 store for the clips (they were $2 each at walmart) I also picked up some fabric at the thrift store, its stretchy so I'll see later.
UPDATE from DH- He arrived home last night and said "Why is there a duck in the living room? Is this going to be an indoor duck?" I replied that I don't know yet. She is too small to go outside.
For those of you with indoor ducks, adults, what do you house them in at night, when you are not home etc? I have a small dog crate for now but she will outgrow that quickly.
