Madison breed info?

I'm thinking the same thing. You just need a good marketing catch and you're good. I'm leaning toward Prepper Chickens, or Homesteader Chickens, something like that.

I have to say, though, these birds don't look to get very big. Not sure I'd be raising them for meat with a cock that small. I'd have to go bigger.

I bought 18 madisons from Purely Poultry and there chicks grow fast. mine at two weeks are as big as my three week old production reds. they do not get excited when I open the brooder like the other breeds. they just keep on doing there thing like I wasn't there.

Do they look anything like this?

I ordered some "assorted layers" females from Purely Poultry & got these chicks that appeared to be meat chickens due to their growth rate.
I went back on Purely Poultry & looked through the breeds it might have been & came across the "Madison" chickens, and that's what they look like!
I'm not sure if they are, but they're the closest I've come to.

Now I just have decide what to do with them, as they're growing & eating like meat chickens (seem to be similar yet slightly different in feather pattern from the Freedom Rangers I've raised.).

The other chicks are all black, so they could be the black broilers, Asian blacks, probably not Australorps as they'd be much smaller at this age.

Oh, they were hatched September 23rd, so they're 11 weeks old & almost as big as the adult Partridge Chantecler (not a big hen) that has raised them.
They weren't on broiler feed, just 20% chick starter - now on their 6th bag & 1/2 way through that one!

I've never seen a hen with this pattern, other than ones that I've hatched myself.
This pattern is similar to what I've seen some of the photos of the Dixies look like.

Size comparison of the adult hen (in the middle) vs the black ones,
which aren't as large as the lighter brown chicks.

Dixie Rainbows? aka Purely Poultry's Madisons?

Very stocky build, wide shoulders, big feet, deep chest, etc

I just ordered 30 Madisons from Pure Poultry according to them it's a dual purpose bird good for meat and eggs 300+ a year. Input from anybody having them out there?

I have six Madisons from Purely Poultry (exclusively available). They are identical to the above pictures. Super fast growers. Appetite and build of a meat bird. Waddle around the yard and are a little "goofy". Friendly, quiet, curious, docile (get along with dog and other chickens). Have done well in confinement but need space between water and feed like the cornish cross. Otherwise, they will become overweight and may develop leg\feet issues. They don't scratch much so may not be the best at foraging. It's a bonus for me though because I can let them out to play/run and they don't scratch holes in the yard and flower beds. Not yet to the egg stage but will post when they do. Photos to come.

Little information exists on this new "breed". Any information is helpful.

Hi. Out of the 30 I ordered (all pullets) 25 remain one month later and looks like I'll have two males in the bunch. Like you said they are fast growers and body shape as a meaty bird. Multicolored, friendly and curious as hell. Got them out of their cage today for them to be loose out in my backyard, they hesitated a bit getting out of the coop but once out they started running and flapping wings running behind 5 baby rabbits I also have in the coop. My other 16 mutts of 3months didn't seem to mind having them around either, so that's a good thing. I just received 20 White Rocks and 10 ASI hens from Ideal Poultry/Pure Poultry and planning on ordering another 20 from Pure Poultry either Madisons or Asian Blacks.

Update on the "Madisons" from Purely Poultry - I sold most of them, as I needed the space for a new batch of chicks. But, I kept a few pullets to see how they'd do, as I'm curious how they'll lay & do long-term. Yes, they have an appetite like meat birds, kind of like the Freedom Rangers. Active, very friendly, not afraid of humans & that was being raised by a broody hen. They are bigger bodied than some of the adult hens I have, but when I pick them up, they're not "double-breasted" like Cornish. But they certainly have more muscle than other egg laying breeds their age or older.
They're about 20 weeks old, and their combs are starting to get bigger & pink/light red.

Madison pullet with two Catskill Homesteader chickens - pullet & cockerel (who are older, but had 20% chick starter for a month or so, before being switched 16% feed & lots of foraging)
