I had a BR that was attacked by a dog and lost most of its skin on one side. I brought her in and rinsed the wound with warm salt water (it was all I had just then). I kept her clean and quiet (and indoors for three weeks, as it was Dec.). Eight months later, it was hard to believe she'd ever been injured.

Iodine or betadine kill tissue and should be VERY diluted, please be cautious, ask any vet.

I also slather wounds with Nolvasan ointment. It's thick and stays put well...Gloria
