Hey friends!
We have a Magpie Drake (named Mags) that has become quite the bully. He and the Pekin run around together, and have, um, relations, often. They are definitely bonded.
I rescued a newer duck, and he is awful to her. We have to keep them separated all the time. She doesn't appreciate his advances and runs from him. He catches her, grabs her by the back of the neck and has his way with her, while pulling out her feathers. We even tried just letting it go for 24 hours, thinking he'd get what he wanted and stop. But that didn't work and poor Sparkles has been abused enough. She was so tired when I penned her last night, and her little neck looked plucked. He chases her and she runs to the back door to get in the house.
This has been going on for 2 months, and we can't keep juggling ducks. One or the other is penned up during the day or night. More often than not lately, it's been Mags, because he protests much more quietly.
I find most of his antics hilarious (chasing the kids and trying to chest bump my boxer). But I don't know how much longer we can juggle them around. He also goes after my elderly dog and is relentless. The only thing that gives me pause is the Pekin. But she gets along well with Sparkles too...
I don't know what to do. I mean, I know what I need to do, and that's probably to rehome him. I hate to do it, I've never rehomed a pet before. But I don't know what else we can do?
ETA: I'm in Texas, and live in the City Limits with nearby neighbors.
