Mahonri?? Dental Advice...

Mahonri you have to be the kindest dentist out there and I seriously wish I could afford multiple drives to Phoenix and had the cash to pay you. I think you are about the only one I would WILLINGLY let work on me.

I will tell my story about my impacted and curved root wisdom teeth later. BUT what I want to say is that I am majorly freaked out, paranoid, titty baby scared of the dentist. I have to have Ativan or Xanax AND a triple dose of nitrous just to get me to open my mouth LOL. I am not scared of any other doctor (and I'm a nurse) and gave birth without any meds (so I KNOW pain) but go get it checked out so you don't get any infection. An infection that close to your brain or jaw bone could be bad. Good Luck, I would come hold your hand, but we would BOTH have to be medicated.

Dentists are not so bad and neither is getting a tooth pulled. I had one of my wisdom teeth pulled and the pain was minimal. They prescribed me lortabs and I never even needed to take one. Years later I had to have the other three cut out by an oral surgeon. It was more painful and I had to take the meds. Within days my mouth felt better than it did before I went.

I have a major abcess as I type, my face is so swollen my cheek is quite literally hanging like a huge blister down to my chin!...... GO TO THE DENTIST ... no matter how scared you feel (I have been and am on antibiotics, next week the tooth is being removed - ) Trust me you do not want that tooth to become infected... I feel really ill, and the pain is undescribable!.... here's a

...now make that call.......

Do you make state to state house calls Mahonri???? I just had a molar pulled back in May and the dentist was really old. My parents are 81 and I would guesstimate his age at being just shy of that. Anyway his hand shook so bad that when he was giving me the novacaine shots I think that he shot everywhere else but where he was supposed to. I lost count of the number of shots after 10.

Then after the whole side of my face was numb he tried to pull it, or should I say yank it, out. What should have been a quick in and out turned into a major project for him. It felt like he was taking my whole jaw bone with him. LOL Needless to say, I won't be going back anytime soon.

Demand Nitrous Oxide. It will probably leave you with a headache afterwards, but you won't have to be strapped into the chair (though you might think you're floating away...).

Yup, the Nitrous is what my dentist gives me if I have to have a procedure...

They numb you up really well, though, so really, after an initial poke, the only thing you may be bothered by is the noise of the dental tools. Just shut your eyes and think of something else...with the Nitrous, that's pretty easy to do.

Thanks guys.
I was using wax last night after my husband tracked some down for me.
I then called my dentist again this morning and complained about the sharp point, my going out of town for vacation/rabbit showing, etc. and they took me in to file the sharp part and that was it.
I will be seen to handle it much more in depth on Monday but at least for now there is no more sharp point. It looks like I will be heading to an oral surgeon. There was unknown decay in the tooth that caused it to break apart.
All four will be pulled. I have put it off long enough I guess

Don't keep putting it off. I put mine off for years do to costs and transportation problems and went through a lot of daily unnecessary suffering.

I know how you feel. Try not to think about it..

What you need to do is go in or call a few days before. Tell them its hard for you to have any sort of dentist procedures done. And ask if they can give you something the morning of. It makes you really tired. and you won't even care what they do to you

Usually I bring some music with me. That way I can turn it up high and I don't have to here the crunching coming out of my mouth

Like I said the first time I went in to get my tooth pulled I kind of went into shock. They only got to numb my mouth

2nd time they decided they didnt want me freaking out so they double dosed me.

I had a traumatic experience when I was 9 years old. They pulled out my tooth before the novacaine started to work. So unless its me poking my mouth I can't have anyone else doing it.
