Well I had to pull eggs from the last hatch and none of the Davis BCMs made it, but they were all formed. Only one pipped internally. So upsetting! One of them stopped way early. I just put more in lockdown so hopefully I'll get some this time.

Prayer in action! We're on it here.

Here's to your son having a very successful operation. My stepson had an operation on his inner ear last week so I can semi-sympathise with the worry.

My update... head is hurting. I had a migraine last night and its starting to taper off now.
I candled the eggs (before the migraine started) last night. Um... they are ALL developing! So... can I let them hatch out stacked on one another? I thought for sure I would be taking some out. I was going to split them into two incubators for hatch but I put goose eggs in the other Brinsea and the only available incubator is a Little Giant which seems to incubate well and hatch poorly. I am hoping when I take the rails out of the brinsea they will just hatch stacked and I can remove chicks every 12 hours... I guess the only way to find out if that works is to try it

Probably a good problem to have ALL MY EGGS ARE GOOD!!!

Over in the Coop, my Broody who started with 9 eggs is down to 5. Yesterday I was kind of upset with her on kicking out a good egg but that is nature and I am letting nature run its course out there. I figure the best thing to do with the broody is to stay out of her way and let her instincts run the show. I am not interfering.

I will try and work on getting all the broody pics together when my head stops pounding... Probably won't be on again for several hours. I need to get some rest and finish making lots of Bubble Bars for an upcoming special.

Glad your eggs didn't suffer!
I have a power unit that goes from a cigarette lighter car unit to a main supply socket, so I can just carry them out to the car and plug them in if I get in trouble. Bought it last year when I realised I was heading off on holiday for lockdown (duh!) I sat the bator on my lap, plugged it into the car and off we went, got a great hatch too!

Now that's what I call an addiction!! I mean DEDICATION!!

Dedication is being able to stay at home to duck-egg-sit (I have come to the conclusion around half of them will have to be manually hatched as they are looking like the inner membrane is splitting from the shell). I was hoping to be heading off with hubby to his gig tonight to enjoy a few beers and listen to him sing, but no, am going to camp out at te kitchen table with my hatching kit and try to save six ducks. Man, I must be nuts. If they were my own, I'd have one hell of a hangover tomorrow!

Julienne some fresh, peeled ginger (about an inch square) and pour boiling water over it in a mug- add a bit of honey and milk, and you'll have massive relief from your headache- I use it for migraines. Learned this from Resolution and thought he was nuts, but turns out he's brilliant! Works perfectly and quickly.

My hatch last week was a disaster. My turner had gotten unplugged somehow (had to be my

border collie mix running around like an idiot and getting her foot caught in the cord) out of 39 eggs, I ended up with 7 chicks. Not shipped either...

That makes me very happy. My broody just hatched out all 8 eggs that were under her at lockdown.

Out of 10 folks that I sold to, I had one claiming that some of my eggs were not fertile. (So I gave him some more)

While it's possible that there are some hens the roos don't like, I won't be selling (or giving) that person any more eggs.

My first candle may have had some yolkers, I would have to go through this thread and find the post. I want to say it was the polish/EE crosses that were duds.

Will find out.

The chicks that I need to cull are NOT your eggs. Shipped eggs from different places.
