Mahonri: Those chicks and their momma are pretty darn cute!!

karimw: That is terrible news. I hope you can rebuild your flock. What happened to the dogs??? Ughhh what a terrible thing!

Mahonri, that broody mama and her babies are precious. Picture number 2 is my favorite!

I just added another broody hen to the incubation-station in the laundry room. Our broodiest Serama mama is sitting fiercely on 7 little serama eggs in a small dog carrier. She kept gathering all of the other hens eggs and trying to sit on them.....sometimes you just have to give up and let a mama be a mama. This is her fourth hatch for us.

Eek, Debi! Is this a good thing, or a bad thing?

Well, my dear, we had really hoped she would step up and decide to help out around here, but she chose to leave. She has some growing up to do.

Has anyone else out there set turkey and duck eggs?
This is my first round attempting them and HOLY MOLY they take forever. I keep thinking I missed lockdown. I think (will have to check later) I still have 3 ducks and 10 turkeys in there goin' good

And sadly I can't wait for this hatch to be done... just so I can set more!

I have hatched ducks before, and I have to say it is very different from chickens. The standard humidity for ducks does NOT work for me, and after I stopped listening and started experimenting, I finally had some success.

WOW I came in to brag and I read this.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! I hope you have sent out eggs to enough people, so you can rebuild later.

Do you have more birds? Is there anything anyone can do to help?
