Steve, Yours has to be "Most Appropriate"!

We should have had catagories for this one!! Most Appropriate, Most Original, Most Humorous.............

Coops cleaned, lawn out back mowed, pool is gorgeous (went swimming after I mowed the lawn) spoke at a funeral, had lunch, (Beets and greens out of my garden, raw shelled peas, boiled eggs with Parmesan cheese and honey mustard, and a Hershey bar for desert) I'm going to take a nap, go grocery shopping and put the finishing touches on my Sunday School lesson... "Who is my neighbor?".....

94 degrees out there... it's supposed to top out at 97... my cauliflowers are all wilty... I'll water them tonight and tomorrow we are having cooked cauliflower with butter and cheese for dinner... DELISH!

I am cold here! It is near 60, but still damp from the rain.

AND, I am hungry. That fresh cauliflower sounds delightful !

Ugh, I'd eat it all bar the beets and cauliflower, arg!

I do have some funny tastes, but I couldn't eat those!

aven't got around to planting any veg again this year, although I do have the space to do it. Somehow all my seeds end up in the hands of my m-i-l, and she says in Autumn how lovely the veg is, you know, the seeds I got from you... I got a portion of fresh peas last year. Think shes trying to drop a hint, but she needs to tie it to a brick!

I appreciate your sense of humor.

Well, I assume that I was not the only one hit by this storm, but my driveway has washed away and I have literal white rapids throughout my yard (mostly above the shot below). Sigh. People have been building some houses up on top of the mountain which has, of course, sent more water down our hollow. Our poor neighbors across the street have half our driveway in their yard. I was nervous that they would be angry at us, but thankfully, they understand what it means to live below the mountain.

Here's part of my yard and driveway. I am so thankful that the house is built up on the hillside, above all of this:

Of course, Talli doesn't mind at all

Edited to add: But you know what? Everyone from our street came up with shovels and helped move some of the rocks and mud out of the street and my neighbor's yard. It was the first time I had met some of those people. It's amazing the way small catastrophes can pull everyone together and create such a warm, almost holiday-like camaraderie.

I just saw what this storm has done elsewhere... We were very lucky.

Went out to the coop about an hour ago, it's below 40 here. Unfortunately one of the chicks my banty hatched somehow got stuck between the cage and the coop wall and was a chick-sickle and totally stiff. When I picked it up out of there I thought I saw a bit of movement. I put it under my shirt, raced it inside and held it in my hands in front of the fire. Eventually it started to warm up and boyfriend got it a hot water bottle and towel to lay on. Amazingly in about 20 minutes that thing was totally perked up and standing on its own. Fed it a wee bit of sugar water and slipped it back under Mom just now.

I don't have high hopes... but some hope...

SCG: I hope the little icebaby makes it.

SarahIrl: So sorry the ducks are giving you so much trouble. Hope some make it!

I have had a busy day! I seeded about 1/3 of my pasture by hand. No tractor here, just me a bucket full of grass seed and a rake. I got myself a farmers tan and I wore my flip flops. Yep that's how I roll! Country girl here for sure.
