Well, I'm in lockdown.

Bad news:
I tossed;
All 39 of my own, clears.

8 of 24 Blue/Black Ameraucana, one started but was cracked and quit, the rest clear

All 5 Coronation Sussex, clears [that really hurt].

2 out of 7 Lav Ameraucana/Marans, clears [the others too dark to candle].

.............................. leaving 30 of the 84 set; I didn't need those extra egg cartons I cut up after all.

Good news:
That cracked egg came apart as I lifted it out; but it did not explode.

After selling Yotetrapper the promised 12 White Ameraucana I purchased, I only had 3 left for myself; all went to lockdown.

All 6 English Orps split to Lav went to lockdown.

I'm needing a replacement for the Blue Ameraucana roo I lost last winter, 16 eggs from his bloodline are in lockdown.

The 30 eggs easily fit in one bator, leaving the other free to set 12 white and blue/black split for white Ameraucanas in the other. I can now set a dozen or more eggs in one and hatch in the other every week; no more waiting 21 days to see what I get.

Have you done any booty trimming? I wonder if that's not the issue? You pulled Mr. Black out, right? So, maybe it's time to put him back in?

How's your fertility in your other breeds? I saw all of the gorgeous BR Jenn got from you- do they all eat the same feed? Perhaps it's time for a primer on artificial insemination...I was studying up on that myself and have tried it in the past- I'm not positive how the results went because I got distracted and went a different way with that project, but I'm going to be looking into it for a South American project very soon. We can chat on that later.

I have one Orp hen I swear NEVER laid a fertile egg, though I've seen plenty of roos gettin' jiggy w/her...I wonder if I can produce fertile eggs in her via AI...

Let's become AI egg-sperts together! It may come in handy in Oklahoma in the next few weeks...
