Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Unfortunately, I DO NOT qualify.

Per the rules someone had to take a picture with the chick and I think the only person to do that is the one with the goose.

I would have, but I thought it was the first chick after the target time. Tomorrow at noon.

and I see it is to late for the stink eye, but will post this one anyway. I forgot I had these and was looking for some pic to send prospective buyer.

Good Morning everyone! Day 20 I have 1 polish out, 1 pipped polish eggs, 1 rockin polish egg and the rest are just sitting there, being eggs, like they should be to make my hair turn more grey! Actally I'm a little more relaxed about this hatch than I normally am. Probably because we have been so busy.

Good luck everyone!

I locked down 16 of 17 shipped Wheaton/Blue Wheaton Ameraucanas on the night of lockdown day and I just saw I have a pip! This is my second hatch I have ever done and the first one went badly (I was using an old LG I couldn't keep stable. Turns out the fan was bad. I just got a new Brinsea though) and I am a nervous wreck!!! The last hatch three hatched out of 28 and 2 lived. I hope for lots of babies!

I have 2 Silkie mixes out and lots of pips, I took the bottom hatching tray out of the Dickey, so we can peek through the tiny little window. Now I wish I would have ordered the clear door.

This may just be me, but if that little baby has zipped fairly well, it's done absorbing the yolk and its blood, and I'd pop off the top to let it relax a bit. It will at least assure it won't suffocate itself. Don't ever take a chick out of the half-shell, though. Chick on the half-shell has to stay that way until the chick can extricate itself, unless glued.

I'd get the panter out, too- that's not really a good thing. Particularly since panting won't help it cool itself because evaporation is soooo poor in high humidity.

In a Genesis, you'll return to good heat and humidity quickly, so it ought not be an issue.

Thank you! I've popped 4 chicks into the brooder. Humidity really doesn't appear to have suffered much at all. (Jeepers, they're tiny when they're only hours old! Tiny, but LOUD!)
