Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Sorry have to mark my spot. With all this posting it is hard to keep up.

Last night I had 2 pips before bed and then got up late. Barley made it to work on time.

Cant wait to get home

Temperature suddenly spiked to 102.2 and humidity to 80 as I was watching????? Since I needed to dump heat and humidity anyway, I sat the upside down pipper so the pipped end's up. The chick is not moving and pressed against the opening, sealing it shut. Alive or no?
I discovered the wing nut on the wafer adjustment was complely backed off; and don't understand why. I need to gather eggs and feed, but watching that bator for awhile first!

When I get those pipped on the small end of the egg, I just lay them on their side. It works for me. I have found that often they are not really upside down in the egg, just pip lower on the egg.

Good luck!

I can't handle it when they block the hole like that because they suffocate so often. I justify helping by feeling that they'll die if I don't help...

Hi all--when I got up this morning I had a chick, a pip and a zip! I just got home from work and there are 5 or 6 in there and many more working on it! I am so excited. None of the button eggs are doing anything yet...they better work this time! I need to set up my brooder and get it up to temp---here we go again....
One of my border collies is cocking her head at the peeping coming from under the blanket...it is way cute! Terri O

My "chicken buddy" just came over to drop-off a curtain panel she was sewing for me. Of course, she wanted to see the new arrival, sooooo...I opened the cabinet door to get her a quick peek

slid the tray out just enough and then back in. I counted 4 pips........I hope I didn't mess them up.....

this is so exciting and difficult to not look constantly. I'm envious of all of you that have Brinseas and other bators that allow you to look at the eggs so easily!! I'm not opening it again until tomorrow when I take out the first chick and any others that are ready........so no pictures yet!

Congrats on all the hatchers and

to everyone waiting!
