Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Can you smell it from where you took the pic?

You can smell that thing a mile down the road. I just bagged it up (and thankfully hadn't had breakfast yet so only dry heaved while doing it) and will be taking it to the dump shortly. Then the 3rd shower of the morning will be in order.

I'm beginning to think I need to shoot it with my .12 gauge instead of my .22 ... maybe vaporizing it will work better for me.

Boyfriend is starting to think we should just let the groundhog eat our garden for the 3rd straight year. This is the 3rd skunk I've had to take care of in a few months, plus a housecat and a bobcat in that trap this week. And of course, no sign of the stupid woodchuck. Woody is a smart little jerk.

Thank you. It had a tiny pip at 9:40 yesterday morning, then it made its current hole at about 5:00 in the evening, so it's been sitting like that for about 15 hours.
What should I do?

I had one this hatch that went 36 hours from pip to hatch.....

Went out to check on the incubator (in our attached garage), three of the fluffed chicks fell out of the tray to the bottom of the cabinet, which has a cookie sheet holding a wet towel. I had the brooder set-up, so I opened the door and scooped the three out and put them in the brooder. I then slid out the tray and removed five more that were dry. Left two wet ones and a bunch of pips and zippers in and closed the door. I hope I didn't sacrifice any to get the others out.

So...ten hatched, quick count of eggs shells, five brown and five white, so 5 java and 5 Icelandics so far........14 more to go!

Sorry about the Skunk SCG!

I hate when that happens.

I'm horrible... if it were me, that would be a trap that wouldn't get opened until the occupant had expired.

Congrats on winning the contest.

You guessed 48... I hatched 45! You were the closest.
