Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Alfred is VERY protective of that NN I put in that nest box. I don't think I'm getting her back...

But I can see she is still ok, so I guess that means she is officially adopted!

I am so sad... A neighbor turned eggs for me... Well, while doing that, somehow the plug came undone. That's 40 eggs.... Dead. Humidity was 84%, temp 70*f.

I don't believe that I have any chicks left. I'm leaving them in there until tomorrow, and I'll candle tomorrow.

I will set three more dozen for me. I can't believe this....

Well I still have 5. I thought I had the BCMxGames hatch, but this is the first time they didn't. I have a BCM roo over an Olive Egger and a pink egged EE and those did hatch and only one of the BCMs. I got a brighter light, but still can't tell on the BCMs I have left and it looks like The Game crosses have pipped internally, but no peeps. pips or anything. I think when the humidity went up I lost the rest, but leaving them another day or 2.

Gotta go buy last minute things for tomorrow. I lost a couple of days somewhere and hadn't bought the kids anything for Easter, so I have to sneak things past a 5 yr old. I'm good, but she's nosy, so we'll see how that goes.

Congrats on all the chickies and other feathered babies everyone.

PepsNick how far along are those eggs? Are they for this hatch? If so I wouldn't call them gone until they have warmed up. They may just hatch late. How long was your incubator unplugged for? I think they are going to be OK. Keeping

for you!

How long does it take for a chick to fluff? This is my first hatch and my first chick out looks like he took a bath in super glue. Do they ever need help fluffing?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way!

I have some in the brooder for 12 hours now that still don't look perfectly coiffed. By the end of my hatch the humidity was out of sight. Last 4 in the incubator look like drowned rats. But they do seem to get there eventually - although I was VERY tempted to get out a towel and hairbrush.

Yup, I'm hatching Shamo's...or at least trying to. you're my inspiration actually. I saw them on your site and fell in love. I wanted to buy some from your auctions, but you're in WA and i'm in CT, so I bought some off ebay instead that were in FL. All eggs were super porous. Should've bought from you.

Shamo's and silkies...my dream pets. I waited til I had a few hatches under my belt just so I could have a good hatch, and only 1 egg of 17 made it to lockdown.

8 Iowa Blues out so far + 1 died after pipping halfway (darn it)
3 Olive Egger F1s out, 1 blue cuckoo, 2 black cuckoo
1 Ameraucana split fuzzy out, blue
No Marans pips yet, but they are the largest eggs in there, so not surprising. Seems to be going smallest to largest eggs for hatching order.
