On a totally unrelated note: I set eggs again Monday (quickest 'bator turnaround, ever!) and just for three eggs I said I'd incubate for a friend. Candled them just now: all dud. Had to put in some of my own as it is a 24 egg bator and won't work properly empty - all mine are growing. I don't need chicks!
So - this evening I get a visit from a guy I vaguely know through work (and his entire family, thank you) as his son is very excited about keeping chickens. Excited is not the word! So, they want all of my birds I think. Um, not going to happen, but they want day olds from the bator, one of my hens and later on a roo. Whooppeeeeeeeeee! Finally, a genuine buyer I think. His son wouldn't let him try to get off the hook on this one I'd say. The young lad was a pearl: he told his folks 'This rooster is so healthy!' and his sister shot him down saying he didn't know that, he replied 'but look, his head is all red!' - and you know he preened when I told him he was right! He was admiring my serama roo who's headgear is about as big as is head. And neck. He be well endowed.
So: from having previously unplanned chicks on the way I get to sell on most of them! Will keep my select few of course, but no mad panic tere if they want them all. Am not too happy about selling on my hens though, not just yet.
