Well it took me over an hour to catch up.

If you want to be eligible for the BEST HATCH RATE... read the rules in POST #1

and then follow the link where you put your name how many you set (that matches what's written in post #!) and then how many you hatched.

I'm still adding cutest chick pics and have to put one of my own in there. The link to the pics is at the bottom.

Good luck... this has been a fantastic almost three months together with all of you... you are like family.

Oh, and I LOVE Jack and Diane... seems I remember a song once... back when I lived in the heartland...

Well, my hatch is offically complete. I started out with 48 eggs, ended up putting 28 into lockdown. 19 hatched, and I ended up having to cull 1 chick due to a leg malformation, but I've got 18 fuzzy butts in the brooder!!!

I still have some pipping & hatching......slowpokes.
Nothing from the quail yet.......I am giving all of them until Tuesday.......the quail are in a different incubator than we have normally used.

And - out of the 5 or 6 BSLs that have hatched, all are roosters!

Here's my entry for cutest chick picture.

This is Lazarus, the smallest Speckled Sussex. We spent most of yesterday trying to free him from his membranes, and he is certainly a bit of a runt. I wish he was a hen, because you can only have so many roos and I wouldn't want to breed him, but judging by his stance which is more upright than this, he is definitely a little fellow. We'll see what we can do. (When you pet his back, he flaps his wings and peeps! Too cute.)

ETA: But maybe not. I just read that the girls have more distinct chipmunk markings and the boys are more blurry. If that plays out, Lazarus is a lass.
