Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

I think that there were 2 that got zero hatched. You can send eggs to both if you want...they are your eggs.

If you only want to send them to one person....well they are your eggs.

Wolfie I agree with tazcat, I believe it is up to you if you award eggs to the first and second place "winners".

I hope to know cutest chick pics by tonight as well as Overall Best Hatch Participant....

I walked into the house for my lunch hour today and the chick smell overwhelmed me. They are out back now.
DW is HAPPY.

Looks like one of the little Icelandics I helped out (A tiny silver chipmunk that I LOVED) isn't going to make it.

I guess nature knows best.

Friday at 8AM the Dr. will be putting injections into my left knee... has anyone here ever had "prolotherapy".

I've got my MRIs just in case it doesn't work.. .last thing I want is surgery but I may have no choice.

Weather here in Phoenix today is GORGEOUS! 90 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze. PERFECT.. tomatoes are getting big... can't wait to see them change from green to red.

Well, I've got 4 more patients and then I'll be coming back home. Can't believe that Saturday these chicks will already be a week old.

I had prolotherapy before they diagnosed with me firbromyalgia...horrible experience. Not only did it not work, they spots where they did the mulitiple injections just didn't want to heal and I had huge weeping sores for weeks. I was in the army so I had no say and finally my doctor said enough is enough, no more treatments. Took a couple of months to heal and I still have faint scars from over 4 years ago. But thats me. I hope it works for you!!

So my husband swears he doesn't like chickens and is just keeping me happy. Well we take our a 1 month old flock out on nice days. He spends more time out there with them than with me! He thinks its hilarious now that they're always bickering and working on their pecking order. Gives me regular updates. And I was going to get a hovabator and last night he looked up incubator stuff and has decided that he wants to either make one or upgrade my LG.

Well, today we had a big scare. It started to sprinkle so we were herding the flock back into the shed and I heard a loud pop. There was a hawk swooping about 5 feet from me, and pop was its wings as shot up away from the chicks. I couldn't believe it dared get so close. Then it hung out in the oak trees in our backyard and circled the area a couple of times. I'm starting to 2nd guess my free ranging plans. The chicks are safe in the shed, but my husband keeps going out to look for the hawk so he can scare it away.

Glad to hear that the hawk didn't get any of the chicks. I have to agree with them "pretending" that they don't care. My DH claims that he just lets me have them because it makes me happy too but I know he cares about them. He "reported" to me that my almost six week olds are getting close to getting out of the pen I have them in now. I will either have to move them or put a cover over it so they don't get out. I think it's funny that he watches them when I'm "not looking"

I don't know whats more cute and amusing...chicks or husbands. Its a good thing our husbands are 'trying to keep us happy'! Gives them a secret hobby or they might get into trouble!

Totally agree, now if Laree would just share her secret about how to get a DH to "be the hen" I would be eternally greatful!

So glad your chicks are safe and sound... We have a LOT of hawks around here so I do not free range my chickens very often.. The only fortunate thing about my yard is that there are absolutely no trees so, the hawks can't hide.. I get so sick of them because I can't do anything to "scare" them away (BB gun) since they are protected... Would much rather keep my chickens in their pens than to get a fine for thousands of dollars that I couldn't afford...
