Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

thanks everyone i really appreciate it the humidity is at 45% is that to high i was told between 40 and 50 by some and lower by others at lock down was told 55 to 60 % or should that be higher i am on day 12 of this incubation and it is my first real incubation i tryed 3 eggs yerlier in a 5 dollar ufo looking incubator but of course that did not work one hatched but dies in the middle of the night. when i candled them 2 days ago several looked like they are where they are suppose to be for that age and were alive and kicking but some looked to be a few days behinf but they were all alive and kicking as well they all looked like they were doing summer salts. does this mean that they will hatch over several days. what could cause that my temp. Now when i set eggs on April 2nd i plan on buying another incubator and filling both with as many eggs as it can hold. so thats 40 to 50 in each incubator so total of two incubators would be 80 to 100 has anyone ever tryed incubating that many at once and what was the hatch %

Ok.. I'm on the map now!!!

I stopped all that and used Chookschick's cheat sheet (try saying that 10 times) and my hatches have been 100% the last 2. I did have more eggs in the bator, but didn't find out which were duds until after the fact, so every chick that developed, hatched.

Anymore new pips??

Not that I can see. I'm waiting for a couple to dry and snatch them out. Maybe then I will be able to see better.

I have always ran 40-50% and at lockdown you need to go up to 75%...the avoid the membranes drying out and shrink wrapping the babies.

Good luck with you hatch.

As to incubating that number at once....talk to kathyinmo she incubates like a mad woman sometimes.
