So you could have a Lavender Show girl on your hands! Lucky!! Are you sure you don't have a road trip planned to Colorado this weekend?

I hear it was 70 degrees there today... might be a nice trip. But wouldn't you rather see SNOW!? In April!? Come bring that cute thing to Maine.

Awww, now. How could you resist us?

Just got through mowing the lawn and took a marvelous dip in the pool.

Temp outside: 100.8 °F with Scattered Clouds

Had some boiled eggs for lunch, AC is on and I'm ready to take a nap.

Still no second box of eggs. No Barnevelders.

I messaged the eBay seller to ask after them and request my money back if they won't be here tomorrow. I can't stagger my hatch on the first go. I'm new to all of this and, of course, wanted everything to go perfectly. I didn't order from a BYC auction because I didn't want to wait until the last minute and be limited to what was offered and I didn't feel comfortable enough yet to PM folks. So, I decided to buy from other places and get everything set to be mailed and arrive in time to set this week and hatch while I'm home on spring break from my job but after my paper is due for grad school... Of course, this past week, I saw at least three auctions on BYC that I was nearly dying to bid on. Ah, well. The best laid plans. So it goes. At least I have 21 eggs in the tub! That should be fine for my first hatch.

In other news:
- Wolftracks, I am so sorry about your eggs!

But it's great that people were interested and there will be other auctions.
- Mahonri et al., the soap titles were beyond hilarious.

Thank you, everyone, for making this such a fun and educational thread!

I'm on day 3 of my semi-Easter hatch, and it has already been an adventure!

Day 1 - Turner did not seem to be working. I felt it to see if there was a vibration, and it was flaming hot! We unplugged it.

Day 2 - Moved all the eggs into an egg carton, and tested the turner out of the incubator. Turned fine. Maybe I jammed it with all those thermometers? Put the turner back in. All was well for the day, but in the evening,- a horrible smell! Could it be a rotten egg already?? After some investigation, discovered that geriatric cat had peed on the floor.

Day 3 - Huge snowstorm and power outage. The temperatures in the incubator were dropping fast. Luckily, we have an old generator, but it requires a jump-start from a car. Managed to get the car (buried in snow) stuck sideways in the driveway, but close enough to jump-start the generator. Power is back now! It took a come-along to free the car. The belt came off the snowblower, but DH could not get it in the garage to fix it, as the garage is full of greenhouse parts (we were really hoping for spring soon).

We bought a new-agey calendar this year (for the pretty pictures) and it says mercury is retrograde until April 23. I do not believe in such things, but I'm starting to wonder....

Okay my brinsea tray is loaded and waiting for noon to come about... I am setting

12 d'uccle eggs from ChooksChick
14 Partridge and Blue Partridge eggs from sebrightmom

I will be at my chicken swap but husband is going to put the tray in at noon for me...I shall call him a couple minutes before to remind him. YAY

Well my 19 eggs are cooking away, all candled and showing good movement (duck and goose). Got a phone call today enquiring on selling eggs... can anyone give me an idea what to charge for dodo eggs?
