Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Quote:
NO ! ! ! It is tooooo early to candle! You should wait! What if you made a mistake????

Like I said, it will be day 10 on Tuesday and I will know for certain, but the 13 I removed were total non developers. Some were literally scrambled.... no air sac and broken yolks.

And like I said, I candled less than half. I left one of the SLW that I'm fairly certain is a gonner, just to be safe.

The Icelandics that I did candle were easy to see development in. Nice developed eyes, lots of viens. Cool.

If you're running a contest and need to clarify your contest or have me add/remove/edit something about it... PM me! Thanks.

Good morning, campers! We've made it to day 6!

The contest for total number of eggs hatched has officially closed. Thanks, Tazcat for keeping up with the numbers!

For a limited time, we're still accepting submissions for funniest chicken picture & the caption contest.

Unsure what any contest is about? You should find the rules in the above post and links to the submissions.

Good morning all!

Got to watch it snowing yesterday evening. Would have been pretty if it wasn't April! We get to go do our taxes today. YAY!

I am waiting until tomorrow to candle my turkey eggs again. I am not going to candle any of CC's eggs until Tuesday. It's just too hard to see development early in the darker shells for me. Kelly (Rathbone) I have your submission for funniest place a chicken lays but I haven't started the page yet. Don't worry though, I will put it on the page when I start it. I have got to get a flapper picture in and see if I can get a funny picture but the weather is supposed to be crappy again today (I am affectionately calling this state Sucktah, but only in the nicest way
gig.gif
) so I probably won't get a funny one in time. I might have to cruise some of my older pics later this afternoon, I think I might have one.

Eek! I've been meaning to get out and try to get a good funny pic and flapping pics and haven't done it.

I'll enter this one of my SG Dorking roo as my funny pic... "It's just a flesh wound!"

Please note, no roosters were harmed in the making of this picture.

There are 4 little clips in there to clip it to the top of the plastic liner to cover the water trays...

That's what I thought. I'm out of town, and coming back today, but a friend of mine wanted to come open it and of course his question got me all worried. LOL

I'm setting eggs tonight!

I have a Silkie in my bator!
wee.gif
It is either blue or splash-too wet to tell yet. I have another Silkie pipped, as well as one of my Orps. Sorry to hear about everyone's egg problems! Warden-that is terrible! Glad you're getting your money back at least!

Woke up to another 7 peepers in the incubator.

So that makes 11 out of 12 eggs hatched, with one still unzipping.

Of the 12 eggs, 1 was an egg the DH accidentially pulled from under the super-broody.

The other 11 eggs are ALL SHIPPED EGGS. So if this last chick unzips, I will have a 100% hatch rate from shipped eggs.

....I should probably find out exactly what Cammy sent me. LOL!!

On a sad note: I had to have the DH cull two of my favorite roosters yesterday---they were super-crowers and I couldn't find them homes. Since I am in the middle of the city, I didn't want to push my luck.

And now, it is 5 AM, the chickens have noticed the lights are on in the house, and I have new crower trying out his paper-towel-roll-bugle for the first time. I am pretty sure it the BWA I hatched for Mahonri during the New Year's hatch.

He sounds so pathetic.

...every time he "Buuurp burthhh beeooowoooothhhhppppbbbbbrtttt"s, the turkey goodilieegoogiliees, telling him to shut up.

Good Morning Easter Hatchers!

It is time for the daily countdown.

We have made it 6 days and we have 15 days to go
