Yeah... right after I finish my regularily scheduled shift.

Although my boss has already placed the "CAUTION WET FLOOR" 3 foot high sign right in front of my door as a warning to all those who enter.
I am in a mood.

Good Morning All!!

Daily Countdown!

We have made it into the 18th day and we technically have 3 more days to go

Some are hatching earlier than others.

But for the spirit of things and for those who are getting ready to go into "lockdown"
Here is the bunny/chick countdown.

I have a pip I really don't think this is good though. I just got home from working a grave shift and decided to put them into lockdown this morning... and one of my duck eggs has a pip!!! I don't hear any peeping noise (then again this is my first time setting duck and turkey eggs) I don't know exactly what to expect, but this is TOO early by ALOT. A day early, ok fine but not on day 25!!!!! The duck eggs are from my runner flock (with 1 cayuga hen) and they all look the same so I don't know who laid what.

SO did anyone else get a pip this early that is set for the right day-Saturday Hatch day?

We continue turning the eggs til' tonight... then lockdown? My 8 silkie/showgirls are at the air cell.. hoping for a easy hatch!

Good luck to all going into Lockdown!

I was sitting the computer and heard some loud chirping coming from my eggs so I went ahead and put them in lockdown. I candled them when I locked them down, and I think many of them quit at some point... which is kind of disappointing. I am expecting about half of my 37 to hatch. These will be my first EE's and some of my own silkie eggs still look good. I can't wait to see pics of everyone's new Easter babies

Mahonri- good luck with the MRI today. I locked down yesterday and went to go count your eggs....

And I have a chick out already. I am not sure if it is one of yours or mine, but YOUR eggies have 5 or 6 pips. What is with the early chickies?

OMG. I have three young roos out there, and 2 have started crowing about a week ago. They still sound like they are doing it through a paper towel roll.

So we are sitting here eating, and we hear this high-pitched scream that goes on and on and on. The DH jumps up to get his gun and see who is being murdered.

....and apparently roo #3 is making that sound, trying to become a long-crower. It's hard to describe, but you know that screetch little kids make? Like that, only super-sonic, and 45 seconds long.
