Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Well, I have two chicks in my incubators. Quail. I know I set them on the proper day so I'm a bit surprised to see them. Especially after having a few low temps and even a power outage last night. I'm anxious to get home to see which ones hatched. I'm almost willing to bet it was the two that were set in the bator when they were still warm.

I GOT ONE PIP!

It's a Phoenix. Also slow down people. I guessed 5000!

No pips, no peeping, no nothing here! Still watching .....

My hatch from yesterday is complete....
I just cleaned out the bator. The 6 Olive Eggers, again, were not fertile. I can not see through them and I keep putting them in. I ended up with 34 chicks.
4 Silkies
8 Delawares
7 BCMarans
6 Icelandics
5 Buckeyes
2 buff colored chicks that I think are Light Sussex hens with Delaware rooster.

Sorry, had to leave to milk the goat.

I got more milk than ever, but she spilled it all with her clumbsy feet. It sucks only because i'm Goat Sitting for Mom.

I have the brooder all set up. Just a 10 gallon fish tank with a wire screen over half of it and the light set on top of the screen. It works like a charm and it fits on the counter right next to the bator. I use a 60 watt bulb in a reflector and that gets it more than warm enough.

Oh, yah, just LOOKat all that snow accumulation, there!

I think its time to panic.

Yeah I think they need to go to the store and buy all the bread and milk they possibly can! Could be stuck in the house for weeks!
BTW Laree, this is what real snow looks like!

It doesn't get mistaken for bread crumbs or bird droppings

In the picture is DH on the right and my boss next to him trying to do something not well thought out!

Posting more pictures of my brooder due to a request. I (read: my poor boyfriend) did not build this... I found it on Craigslist from a guy right down the road. I bought it this summer, you know... just in case I had more chicks. Accidentally, of course.
