Much more movement from one of my little ducklings...but sadly I can see one has died..it pipped backwards in the egg and hasnt moved in over an hour..

4th egg still had to pip...The silkies that have hatched already are wandering around the brooder all fluffed up now.

Oh sorry! Had a duckling yesterday that pipped the wrong end and didn't make progress from there. The others had hatched so I helped it out (it was alive and crying). It was a very small (fully developed/yolk absorbed) duckling, but half the size of the others. Jumped right out of the shell and was bopping around, but died during the night.

But you have to try, right?

Marans # 5 is alllllllllllllllllllllllllllmost out, and I have 4 more Maran pips (4 with nothing going on). No pips on the 5 Cochin eggs left (got 1 cochin hatched). The 2 Icelandics are sure cute, too.

My brand new computer has taken a dive so I am on my iPad. I will have to go to Starbucks tomorrow with my laptop to snag the rooster pix and put them on the page.

No pips.

I spent some time in the bathroom/nursery with the frizzled Cochin I have just come to adore. It is the most mellow chicken I have ever had. I almost considered bringing it out into the living room to watch TV with us. But the dogs might be annoyed - and troublesome! - with an 8 wk old chick in the house, their domain.
