Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

that is funny, we have a foster Irish Setter who watched the hatch all day yesterday and even though the chicks are out in the brooder, he is still staring into the incubator

Reminds me of my Aussie with mice. Used to have some mice in an aquarium. She will -to this day- stare for over 20 minutes at an empty 10 gallon aquarium because she "just knows" a mouse is going to hop out...any minute now.

Ok that is hilarious!!!! My former kitties never touched the chicks, but this one took off with the first chance he got. Chick was fine, and I learned a lesson.

That is so funny that your foster dog is still looking.

My 4 dogs were Foster dogs. I am a sucker and adopted them all. Just could not let them go after they got here. It has all worked out.

During the last hatch my German Shepherd female would hear the chirping from the incubator and run to it to see what was happening. Then the boys would go and check it out too. So 4 dogs hovering over the incubator. This time, no matter what kind of distress the chicks are letting out, they are all ignoring them. So weird.

Too be honest I sat the chick down and turned to get the other babies out of the brooder, very glad I turned around when I did. The kitty seemed a little too interested in the baby, lol. I have had chicks in the house for months and he has never bothered them. He will occasionally sit on the windowsill and watch them though.

Our Aussie pup is actually not even interested in watching the chicks and they are in the kitchen in the brooder which is inside a wire dog crate for safety from our Irish Setter girl who wouldn't think twice about doing something to them.
