Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

I would leave them in the turner and remove them from the bator, the only thing I would worry about by leaving the eggs in the bator while turning it on, is any spike in temp. I think it's best to let it come to temperature (and adjust) before putting the eggs in and then when it's stable for several hours, adding the eggs. That's just what I do with my LG because of the sometimes crazy temp adjusting. I also cover my bator with a towel or blanket to help keep the temps steady. Best of luck to you on your hatch.

WELCOME to newlyweds, wthchristi and IdealisticRoo!!!

That puts us at 87 participants!!

If you are putting eggs in on the 11th and you don't see your name on my list close to the top of page 11, then PM me... I sometimes miss things!

I'm just trying to keep up with this thread... that will be a good thing when my eggs are in the bator, it'll keep my mind off of them...kinda. Not... Oh well,we'll have FUN!

I just now realized it looks like I've married off two participants!

No, wthchristi and Idealistic Roo didn't just marry each other. At least I don't think they did.

Im so sorry I wont be able to send but one or two eggs for everyone....but Im still sending a boxfull of eggs, so you can hatch something!

Well out of 9 eggs in lockdown I have 3 BOs now. No others have pipped, but giving them a couple of days. My Islandics aren't doing too much

Think if I'm lucky I might get one or two, but not dure till the 9th. The OP likes to bang my boxes around and I've had some really bad hatches and then some good ones. Started with over 3 dozen from the ones in lockdown now and only 9 made it this far.

I have a Christmas hatch for only a dozen. Got lucky to get those, but New Years is scaring me. Having a hard time getting eggs right now, but I'll be in if I have to go to Safeway for fertile eggs. I'm going to be hatching something!

I always like my incubator to be up to temp before I add eggs and this could take time.
I would start up the incubator the day before and adjust as needed. I never start the incubator with eggs in it due to possible temp spikes while stabilizing.

But putting the eggs in the turner while at room temp sounds fine to me. Just put the turner w/eggs in the incubator when your ready.

I would not suggest a towel or anything over the incubator. The reason is that there are air holes that allow oxygen in and a towel/blanket etc would cover those and limit oxygen getting in and even the eggs need to breath.
