Give him my congratulations Mahonri, and to you as well.

THANK YOU BOB for being a wonderful part of him receiving his Eagle. You are the best.

Well, here is praying that my shipment of eggs from So. CA and Kansas make it today.

I'll fire up the bators again this morning... so I can put the eggs in tomorrow.

daisychick the only problem that I had with mine was that the incubator was not sending power to the humidity pump. The bator itself was working just fine as is the auto-turner. At first I thought it was a problem with the pump motor but with some trouble shooting help from DH we narrowed it down to the circuit board in the bator itself. If I had waited to check it until too late to get a replacement, it would have worked fine, I just would have had to add water in the bator and kept an eye on humidity. Since this is my first time hatching, I really wanted to get the humidity pump issue resolved so there is less for me to screw up.

I am going to stay home today and wait for the new bator. I do have to say that dealing with Brinsea was great! I wasn't expecting the replacement until today (Friday) and they had it arriving yesterday. Very nice lady on the phone.

Next year, we'll start this thread mid October so that folks can really get prepared.

We learned a little last year.

We've learned LOTS this year...

...order those hatching eggs early and have them sent early because of the Christmas rush that starts on the 6th or 7th of Dec.
Order your new bators in early November so you can fire them up and make certain that they work. Breeders need to keep their hens in protein so that they will keep laying!
For me... order less eggs!!

I'm thinking we also need to somehow get this out to the media... What a great new New Years Tradition... at least for chicken enthusiasts.

Morning all!
Heading for the show in Oklahoma(where the wind goes sweepin' cross the plains and probably up my skirt if I had one on). This wimpy Texan may freeze her backside off up there!
Incubator is good to go and my sister will be setting my eggs for me tomorrow about 1 pm(my time) so I'm out for the NY baby, but who knows, maybe I'll have the cutest chick???
Hope ya'll have a great one and I'll bring ya'll back somethin' purdy.

Love the idea of starting earlier next year, Mahonri!

halo the tracking on my eggs didn't update until the day they were delivered. I guess the USPS doesn't scan the packages as often as UPS or FedEx. I know I can track my packages across the country with the two companies. Makes you wonder why they, USPS, puts tracking numbers on the boxes at all.

A lot depends on the PO, too. Ive sent some packages where they were scanned at every stop; and some not until they were delivered, even if then. You send your boxes, you take your chances.
