I can't resist! I'm in. I have 4 Bators ready. I can't seem to stop. What do you do with all the chicks? I'm out of room. Help.

Finishing up a hatch today to make room for eggs to go in tomorrow. I have 15 gorgeous new baby silkies, including 4 lavs, 2 BLRW, and a choco Polish running around fluffing up with 1 more Polish and 2 more silkies zipping.

We have 3 Tolbunt eggs so far and hoping for more today and maybe one tomorrow before noon. I swear they have heard about this hatch and wanted to join.

Illia, the Tolbunts laying was a total surprise to us. They are younger than our friends, and his aren't laying yet. Hope yours come out of molt soon and start laying for you.

Oh yeah, you got it bad!

Today a regular egg customer came by. He always buys 6 dozen eggs, every couple weeks. DD told him, "Sorry, we have no eggs, my mom has lost her mind." Poor guy got no eggs ....

Yeah , the people wanting my eggs don't seem to understand when I tell them " The incubator's not full , check with me next week . " .

This is why I have a few 'eating egg hens' lol My EE's and golden comet. They would be some marans maybe polish cross mutts.....so we never hatch them

I could just imagine DH's face if we had no eggs to eat because I was hatching them all!

Hi,
This is my first post and I would love to join everyone tomorrow. I have my homemade incubator running for the last 2 days - to get out the kinks. I will be putting in 3 BSL's eggs (the other hens are on strike or coming out of the molt) and my pullets are not laying yet. A friend of a friend gave me 15 lovely brown/purple eggs but he does not know what breeds - just half are white and the others are red. Plus 4 roosters. It should be interesting.
Thanks

I am running a homemade incubator too! I think making the incubator adds an element of pride to the would-be chicks!

My homemade is running now for a Christmas hatch, I bought a hovabator for the New Years hatch. My drug, er breed of choice is anything that lays green or blue eggs, so I have both incubators STUFFED with E.E. and Araucana eggs (couldn't get my hands on any Ameraucana eggs)

The hovabator for this contest isn't stuffed yet, but I kinda over-ordered and I had one seller not contact me for 4 days, and then email and apologize and tell me he is sending extras!

Great! I am now 20 eggs over turner capacity! The homemade unit goes into lockdown on the 22nd, I guess if I get an auto-turner by then and put it 6-8 inches above the soon-to hatch eggs, I can squeak by!

Post office called at 5:30AM. Glad I was awake.

Chookschicks sent 13 beautiful eggs. I broke one trying to get it out of the foam... but the foam is nice.
onthespot sent 33 eggs.... I dropped a MFC. clutz me. She has probably the DARKEST Black Copper Marans eggs I've seen in my life.
Laree is hatching 18 of those for me because I only dared to "stack" about 14... last time I stacked I had decent success (I stacked my own out of the coop... almost all of those made it) I figure like last time that by first candle there won't be any stacked anymore.... unless the PO was very kind.

So I have 82 in my two bators and Laree is hatching 3.5 dozen for me.

Pics to follow this evening... I sat them in the bators before taking them out just so I could see how I wanted them...Bators starting to warm.

Wahoo.
