I had some excitement this morning, set my eggs and ran right back to it.. sorry for the late check in with my numbers, but I have a couple chicks in the brooder having trouble breathing all of a sudden. For the past few days I had one weak baby, and today he's fine and I have two with problems!!
I scoured the boards for solutions and ran up to
TSC.. fingers crossed.
Uhm.. I ended up counting a bator that I had coming in the mail for space, and one I bought used for a hatcher, too.. the mailed one didn't get here until this morning, so I borrowed one from my uncle... and that means there are four running right now.
The one that got here this morning has a turner and the 'hatcher' didn't, so those eggs will be transferred as soon as it heats up and shows a steady temp.
Also.. when I was ordering eggs, I forgot to keep track of what was coming. When I finally sat down and looked at it, I found I had WAY more eggs than I intended. And there's still one order pending, it had to be delayed! Aaaand putting them in, my bookkeeping went straight down the toilet.
I have 103 total on my spreadsheet, and 110 when I count what's in the bators..
I do know my mystery 7 (hereafter referred to as 'the mystery eggs') are with the NY Hatch, because I only had 20 in the bator when I started this morning! and all of those are accounted for! That's 90 for the NY Hatch -- the rest will come out sooner.
Here's what I've got:
Set for 12/18, 3 Buff Orpington, 2 Red Jungle Fowl, and 3 backyard mix
Set for Christmas Day, 2 Silver Lakenvelders, 10 Frizzled EE and Cochins
Those are what's left after the rest of them turned clear.. except for the BO, the 12/18 hatch will be my babies from the backyard. My husband's got his fingers crossed on the jungle fowl, we got rid of the RJF rooster and he misses him
For New Year's (per my spreadsheet, will fix it when I open to candle)
11 Seramas (Hubby's camping these out, too.. they'll be his babies for sure!)
18 Araucana & Ameraucana (I'll assume they're a mix until I have pictures and someone can confirm they're not!)
12 Cochins (LF)
24 Olive Eggers
2 Buff Orpington
4 BC Marans
4 GL Wyandottes
2 Easter Eggers
2 Barred Rock
2 Brown Leghorn
2 Pumpkin Hulsey
7 Mystery Eggs
Seriously, can you stack your eggs like that without it causing a problem? If I can, I'll throw the extra six that are in with the early hatchers right in the other bators so they're all in one spot!
And I loved that news article!
