Thank you! Tonya Harding Chicken is ANYTHING but standoffish. Although she is from a hatchery...

However, she will, when given the opportunity, always jump in a lap. Always. And when she wants up and you're not sitting down she will launch herself into your arms on occasion. That's guaranteed to scare the crap out of you when you're not expecting it.

She and another chicken, an easter egger named FatOne will also always jump up on my arm if offered (like a falconer), and my shoulders if my arm isn't offered. I did not train them to do this... although as far as being trained... it might be me.

BlueBirdChick, my little chicken hug is an "EE" named Daytona. She hatched during the Daytona 500.

Yep, I am trained too. i couldn't say how many times I have to wash my jacket because they want to ride on my shoulder. Speaking of training...if anyone knows how to train a chicken NOT to poop while on my shoulder (or standing on my head - oh Lord not my head) I would appreciate the info.

OK I wasn't going to candle again today. I was planning on waiting until day 18 but DH has been dropping hints all day like "Isn't today day 10?" and "Is everyone else checking their eggs?" I am beginning to think that he is a closet hatch a holic!

I guess I will check them one more time before day 18.

I am ONLY candling today because I've got four eggs stacked on top of the rest and I want to make (optimum) room for the good ones.

If any. Prolly won't have ANY hatch this time. Just 'cuz. *sigh*

Poopfoot! Hahahah, yep. My most friendly are the buff orpingtons (age 2 months). They are huge and look like hens but just big babies really. Constantly want to be on my lap, or on my shoulder (or my head) and one hops up and BOOM, all ten want to be held, and sure enough, someone poops on me. They all seem to want to sit on my head. One of them pooped in my hair once and so now of course I don't let them on my head anymore but I am sure the neighbors get a good laugh as I am constantly removing one from my head, then the next that hops up there. They are really lovey dovey.

OK pulled four more non-starters down to 12 but those look really good. I think I might still have a couple that have quit but I am not going to pull them until candling on day 18. I am so happy that at least 12 have made it so far. I love the colored eggs but when I am candling, I am wishing that I had all white eggs.
