That dude is a complete psycho!

Agreed!!!!

If you are talking about who I think you are talking about, I hope all three of his "personalities" have been blocked by FB. He will probably just make another one.

On a better note, I have a question about the egg racks in a Brinsea. Do you leave them in after going into lockdown or do you take them out?

I gave up on the rails - I have mine incubating in egg cartons, at lockdown I may keep them in there. It depends on how many I have going into lockdown - it's pretty tight in there with 22 eggs right now. Since I don't have a turner cradle, it also makes it safer (for me, anyway) to turn the bator.

So would it be better to keep the rails in or take the rails out and put the eggs in an egg carton? This is my first time incubating and I am worried that the rails might wind up causing problems for the just hatched chicks (that is assuming of course that they hatch

Mahonri just so that you don't feel homesick for Utah, here is what we have coming:
THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH
THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

* AFFECTED AREA: THE CACHE VALLEY...THE WASATCH FRONT...AND THE
GREAT SALT LAKE DESERT AND MOUNTAINS.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: TOTAL ACCUMULATION OF 4 TO 10 INCHES ON THE
VALLEY FLOORS AND 8 TO 14 INCHES ON THE BENCHES ARE EXPECTED.

* TIMING: SNOW WILL BEGIN LATE TONIGHT...WITH A RAIN-SNOW MIX
POSSIBLE ON THE VALLEY FLOORS THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. THE
HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
WEDNESDAY EVENING AS THE COLD FRONT CROSSES THE AREA. PERIODS
OF SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO THE DAY THURSDAY BEFORE TAPERING OFF.

* SNOW LEVELS: SNOW LEVELS MAY RISE ABOVE THE VALLEY FLOORS TO
AROUND 4500 FEET LATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING...BEFORE
QUICKLY FALLING BACK TO THE VALLEY FLOORS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

* WINDS: SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE WEDNESDAY MORNING...WITH
GUSTS OF 25 TO 35 MPH. WINDS WILL ALSO BE GUSTY FROM THE
NORTHWEST BEHIND THE COLD FRONT THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING.

* IMPACTS: WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS...INCLUDING SNOWY ROADWAYS
AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES CAN BE EXPECTED...ESPECIALLY WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON AND EVENING ALONG THE I-15 AND I-80 CORRIDORS.

This ought to make it very interesting getting over Johnson's pass to Dugway tomorrow.

I don't miss that snow at all... and now the weather service is saying PHOENIX will see snow by Thursday morning!!
Lows in the 20s!!!

Global warming.

And I hear there was a convention/rally held against global warming up in Salt Lake recently....

Sorry about your quail!

I am attempting to hatch out my first ever quail. I am so worried about where exactly to pen them when they are grown and ready to go out. I may take a risk and pen them in rabbit hutches inside my chicken barn. The risk of illness from chickens is a lot less than the certain death by cats and foxes and coons outside the coop. I just hope I can get some to hatch. I am excited to be a first time quail mom.

OK Brinsea owners.....I am starting to get all anxious and nervous for my first time locking down in a Brinsea. Do I take the incubator totally off of the black turner stand or just unplug the turner...which is best??? Have you found that filling both water channels is enough or do you use a cloth or sponge on bottom too??? I am already prepared with tubing and a squirt bottle to add water as needed through the vent slider. Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

I am getting excited here.
