Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Lockdown time really has nothing to do with it. You can lockdown whenever you want to. The contest is for the first chick of the New Year YOUR time. We won't all be due at the same moment.

Does that make sense?

yep gotcha thank you

WELLLLLLLLLLLLL then, I already KNOW who will win the cutest chick contest, so laaa deeee daaahhhh.

My Icelandic chicks are the cutest chicks of all ..... there is no denying that one, so there!

BUT, there is a slight problem, I suppose ..... I am not so computer savvy. Meaning, my gorgeous chicks will just look like .... well, like chicks. Now, if I knew how to make those super cute frames and stuff like that ..... well then ..... then I KNOW my cutest little chicks would win.

*off to search the web and learn how to make a frame, and, and, and other stuff*

Kathy, STOP! Geez, we were gonna go get some more this week but instead we're traveling. So STOP MAKING ME ENVY YOU!!!

OH, I seeeeeee! I think the number of posts contest is .... How many posts at the strike of the New Year Mahonri time zone! Does that sound right? Make sense? This contest is limited to the people involved in the hatch only.

just candled . Will move to my hatcher early am tommorrow, and then off to moved DD from university apartment to hopefully work apartrment. Be gone all of tommorrow and back thursday afternoon. Will lock down 24 of 30 set and hope for the best. Last 2 hatches have lost 1 or 2 , but hoping for all of these to make it. Last 2 hatches grand kids were here, and had to open hatcher couple time to look, the the last 2 to hatch will be sticky or stuck. only gona open this one at Midbight to see what we have, and then will place them in incubator instead of back in hatcher. I am done incubating for a bit so will have 2 free. Otherwise I have been loading a new set as they go to hatcher. Looks like 1 barnvelder, and 5 wellie from a new layers. They were hatched the end of may, early june, most of the barnies were clear, but they had only been laying 2 weeks at most. 4 wellies from my older girls, that have since quit laying, and the rest are my black coppers coverd with blue copper roo. I am going to give my barnie and new wellie a couple more weeks and then set a few of them. Switched rooster 3 weeks ago, and have the 1 welli pullet and 1 barne pullet that are each laying 3 to4 eggs every 5 days. Shape and c olor has stabalized and the ones I have eaten look to be fertile now. Also have a cuple of new black coppers that just started laying, so by then they should have the ink jets working and see what they give me. It is truly a disease. My wife will tend my chickens while I am gone and she asked me tonight how many I have. In true chicken math form, I stated" It kinda hard to tell, numbers change weekly ". HE HE:) . but with 110 chicks in the pens, plus the adults and 24 in lock down, maybe its time to rest the bator a bit. Good luck all.
