People here are so creative and resourceful in photography. I am excited!

I did put mine into 'confinement' today. I set 20 more eggs in the Rcom with the rails and put the oval plate up above with little blocks of wood with my remaining sorry set of 13 or 14 eggs. Since they don't need to be turned, this works great! The bottom layer keeps turning, and if I put the hatching ones on a paper towel, they don't fall through. I always hatch on paper towels in my LGs, too- but the paper is wet when I do that.

I'm thinking the Cochins may go early- those little banties like to break out early!

I left the whole bunch alone too long- a day and a half and I lost more than half due to a failure. I'm glad I had them in 2 different incubators by that point. My Christmas hatch was pretty good, but I only hatched a handful of Silver and Coronation Sussex for RevolutionMama. Good thing they were only in my basement because her 3 incubators were full! I'd feel awful if that was her only batch.

My little mottled Cochin chicks are looking fabulous! I'm looking forward a year and thinking about how awesome they'll look as Silkied Mottled Cochins!!

OK everyone, I've been hanging out here reading for the past few hours; and, I'm guessing that by official quitting time there will be at least 5,003 posts!! That's my crazy guess - 5,003 posts. Happy guessing to everyone else out there.

Yeah- Bantam Barn had a spontaneous mutation a few years back- I have one laying and two on the way. Their originals are in barred and black, which I have in with my Birchen, Blue, Mottled and Lav Splits , so I'll have other colors with the silkied gene, too!

LOVE them!!
