Still just little Uno, our 1st FBCM, that made it out before 7:45 this morning, and 2 BO's out and about. The FBCM that pipped about 8:00 this morning is 3/4 zipped, but taking it's own sweet time. I also have another FBCM that has pipped, and making a racket but not in any big hurry get out.

Unless one of these get's real busy, with 45 minutes left before midnight, I do not see myself in the winners circle.


Regardless, I am glad that my first hatch is going well.

About umpty zillion posts ago, somebody was curious about the size of my yard and how many chickens I keep in it.....

28 chicks in the ginormous brooder in the shed, 45 chickens of various ages in ... Wait, 46..... In eight coops, 3 chicks in the bathroom brooder, 2 adult Cayuga ducks, 4 call ducklings in their bathroom brooder, seven eggs not pipping! 12 more TJs eggs in another 'bator, and I just set 8 shipped Marans eggs from an eBay auction. I have a box of eggs from bargain (Nancy) which arrayed today; I'll set those tomorrow.

Back yard is pretty big. Chickens free range on almost an acre.

NOW, she decides to hatch! 10:17 PM my time! I still have 3 more pips that COULD make it at the stroke of New Years! Only 97 more minutes!

Post # 5560.... I darn near had a panic attack chirping and urging the little bugger to get out of the shell.. Then I about hyperventilated trying to get the camera hooked to the computer for the upload..

Maybe I'll have an Icelandic that will pop the shell just after midnight.

Now the next part of the contest gets crazy because it's the first one out after midnight YOUR LOCAL Time, that's why we posted the atomic clock so you could take a pic of the chick, out of the shell and (all wet!) and then one of your screen with the time on the atomic clock set to YOUR time zone.

The winner of Posts guessed at 12:00:01 will be fairly easy. Only 40 entered and at present it looks like there can only be one of two possible guesses that will be close enough.
