My friend Leah who named the SLW after herself called this morning: "leave it to my chicken to get drunk on New Years and fall off the roost" ... I never thought I'd laugh about my chicken's death but that was funny.
Got back from the dump (which was closed) a few minutes ago to my first BLRW on the halfshell and another EE/Turken zipping.

The hygometer is totally messed up , the humidity is actually somewhere between 70 and 60 and it reads 22 right now [ might be registering room instead of off the probe in the bator like its set for ...............................................

I'm a complete dork and figured out that it works best inside the 'bator. Took me a while to figure out the settings and functions even with the instructions.
I kinda like mine and I think it worked pretty good this time (after I put it in the 'bator) and ran it along with my old tried and trusted therms. and hygro's. Let me grab mine and look at it to see if I can help you out with it.
Mahonri, thats a Rock/Marans cross. You should name it...
are you ready?
now dont hit me.....
Barock Marana.
This has been fun! Ive got 12 hatched, and 13 still in the hatcher. I awoke to so many that had hatched in that little Eco 20 that it looked like a big thick fuzzy carpet in there. Got them in a brooder, cleaned out all the eggshells, and now Ill wait for the next flood of chicks, hopefully.
Love the Eco but that was just too many eggs.
Anyone who hatched out orangey ones from my blue eggs, those are Olive Eggers. The Wheaten marans over the wheaten Ameraucana is hatching out that darker wheaten color. They are really really cute.
Well, I have a total of three arauconas and one still pipping upside down in the mini Eco............................
Nothing else
See, I knew I would win for least amount of eggs hatched
I put 17 into lockdown
I quit believing in luck a long time ago ; but I'm always blessed . I try to remember that if I'm alive to experience disappointments , I have much to be grateful for !
To measure inside 'bator humidity the unit and probe should be the in the incubator. The unit outside of the incubator will give you the humidity reading for the room that it is in. It's only designed to read outdoor and indoor temperatures seperately. I just moved mine into a 'bator after only having the probe hanging in it through one of the vent holes...room humidity read 35% before putting the unit in....after 10 minutes the 'bator hum. reads 43%, one percent lower than the other hygro/therm that was in there to begin with.
eta: forgot to say before putting it in the 'bator, press the "TEMP MIN/MAX" button once to display and set it to indoor temp recording.
