Ok THIS makes more sense to me. Hearing someone say Mahonri set a rule like that I felt like I was in the Twlight Zone!

Judges4 listen to your inner chicken voice. Go get the darned thing and peel little teeny tiny pieces off. If you see veins or blood or yolk STOP and put it back.

If it seems distressed I would help it.

That shrink wrap business is no joke. Hard enough for us to get it off, those poor little guys have zero chance.

so by limiting the hatch rate to 20-25 eggs minimum it levels the % a bit more.

when I hatch 1-10 eggs I normally get all to hatch or maybe lose 1 egg in the batch. when I hatch a full 40 I always have a couple that don't hatch.

We just misread it. It seemed strange to me as well.
