Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Here she is.

It was a Frizzle mix of eggs -- Frizzle Silkie, FrizzleCochin, FrizzleWyandotte.FrizzlePolish,FrizzleSultan. Is she a silkie?? Which has feathered legs?

I am just now checking in - and no, I didn't read all the pages to catch up...sorry.
My Hatch
1st chick - January 1st, 9:40 p.m. Light Sussex
Total hatch
3 light sussex
1 silver sussex
2 bantam campine

A terrible hatch rate - but I will focus on how delighted I am with the six chicks I did get!
I hope you each had a wonderful time ringing in the new year while watching your babies hatch out. Kelly

Looks to be a silkie, but you won't know if it is frizzled until the feathers start to grow in. If it gets normal feathers that are frizzled, it is considered a sizzle, if it gets silkie feathers, it is just a silkie.

And do I keep her in the incubator for now? Put her in the brooder (it's there but just not all put together and turned on, obviously, since we didn't expect a chick!!)??

Obviously we need to pick up a feather duster. She's pretty lonely and only calms when held in cupped hands.

Keep her in the bator until you get the brooder up and running so she stays warm.

Will do.

I have to say, I'm really surprised this one made it so far. I don't think I should have helped her out since she seemed to fall into my hand after getting the top of the shell off and she didn't have to be extricated from any membrane. Shoulda just let it go. But so glad she's still alive this morning and I didn't screw up too bad.

Yeah, the seller said 2/3 of the chicks would be Frizzle. Here's hoping!

Not until all the hatches are done, so they will have time to get a picture of one of their chicks.
ETA: I will put a cut off date on ... Jan 5 will be the last day.

I think I would leave the bandaids off for now and see how she does. She may just be a little slow to get around. I dunno, that's what I would do.

Okay, bandaid off. I've done my chicken torturing for the day. Sheesh! Bandaids on feathered legs!

I'm trying to upload pics but the upload isn't working.

Good luck! I am off to do chores and errands in town.

Thanks for your help, this morning AND last night!
