Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Ok so this really looks like a chicken wearing leg warmers.........like in the 80's when the bigger girls who didn't have dainty legs tried to pull off the mini skirts and leg warmers and ended up looking like tree trunk legs....just saying I might of know a few of these girls. This picture bought back memories.

Put some rubber bangles on it's wing and a Neon Pink Bow with those leg warmers! 80's Chicken!

Or "waxing cracks"

I don't know how many times I was in tears or trying not to laugh out loud at work while checking up on the thread!

Goodness I forgot about all the crack waxing. Did any of the waxed hatch?

My Icelandic egg was cracked in several places on the small end which I covered with wax. It hatched just fine!

Thanks all. It has been fun. I am off to bed after finishing my new coop today and moving 35 Icelandics in!

I am sad to report that I lost one of my chicks today. I dont know why. It was the smallest one of the group. but it seemed to be doing good up until today. I went out this morning and noticed it was just laying around and not active like the others, then this afternoon I found it laying there and not very responsive then tonight It sadly had passed on. I have lost big birds for verious reasons, but this is my first baby loss and I am very sad over this one. I just dont understand what went wrong, especially already at day 5. my last 3 in the incubator didnt make it either. I pulled the plug today. 2 were scrambled and one was fully formed but never came out of the shell. thank you to everyone who participated in this hatch it has been great fun, I just cant keep up with 50 pages a day:lol:
