Congratulations! You should join in on the Chinese New Year hatch. You still have a few days to get eggs

MsFuzzyButts you will have to post a picture of Lazarus all fluffed up. So cool that he finally got out of that shell. Yup, I agree, has to be a stubborn boy!

The funny thing about this is DH. I think he wants me to set more eggs now

He keeps asking me when I am going to set more eggs, I keep telling him the Easter hatch. He then will ask when they are setting eggs for the Chinese New Year hatch, I tell him the date and remind him that I am not setting again until the Easter hatch. I can't believe that I am the one holding back

He keeps bugging me and I am going to make him get his own account on BYC and his "name" will be Closet Hatcher!
Can't believe how much the chicks have changed over the first days. The ones that hatched on Sunday have feathers on their wings already. The late coming orps are still just fuzzy and they are only a day or two behind them. Amazing!

I have heard some people use two light bulbs in their system, so if one bulb goes out, it won't get completely cold. They also have ceramic heater bulbs that screw into a light socket, not sure about the heat they give out, but might be an option.

I cannot keep up with all the posts but wanted to check with the volunteers to see if we have the names of the winners of the Garry Farm Certificates. Chookschick bought one and we are donating the other. Can I please get a pm on this....I don't want to be late on the mailings of these!

I said it earlier, probably some 200 pages ago

thanks to Mahonri and all the volunteers. And to you all the mommies and daddies who were part of this...What a hatchathon. The emotions of hatching just cannot be understood and until you do it! I also learned much as I read several of the posts.

Well, love and hugs to all Mahonri, I will be organized next year and pray no incubator breakdowns and will join the next hatchathon, Lord willing and the creek don't rise. Have a blessed day! Love, laughter and prayers to you...Nancy

lol I'm in it

Got a dozen bantams to go in tomorrow and need to see what I can find for the actual hatch.

I'm nervous about ordering in eggies when I haven't run the 'bator before but I think I'll just have to take the chance if I can't hunt up some local ones.
I was told by the seller it works great and is idiot proof so that is something.

She has a big cabinet one now so didn't need this foam one anymore.

EDIT to add: Mahonri I LOVE those eggs in your avatar! That's what I want my egg basket to look like.

Thanks again to all who participated in this hatch. It was fun to follow along with you. Congratulations, MsFuzzybuts on Lazarus. He's adorable!!! I think I will just follow along with your fun for the next few hatches. I'm afraid there is something wrong with my baby, and it's difficult to cope. She is rolling on her back and I haven't seen her eyes open in a while. She's still peeping, though.

It's just torture to have a chick that doesn't thrive. Especially after incubating and watching them hatch! I have a little that did not absorb it's yolk and its tummy did not close. It is still going, but I have not seen it eat. It is drinking the sugar water with vitamins in it, but it usually sleeps standing up. It peeps constantly, but not like it is in pain. I don't know what to do about it, nothing I can do, but if it looks like it's in pain, I torture myself as to whether to put it out of it's misery, but every time I ready myself to do it, I notice it drinking or running about. However, it cannot go on forever with its stomach open. It is 84 hours old right now, so it must be out of yolk, so maybe it eats when I am not around.

Happy healthy vibes for all the little fighters out there!
