Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Morning.

I took the day off work today, sick. Had a cough for about 10 days, but felt ok otherwise. I finally relented and started an antibiotic for the cough last night. This morning I woke up to full ears, a sore throat and uhm... abdominal pain from the antibiotic. Oh, and the cough's still here.

Ain't modern medicine great?

On a good note, it'll at least give me a chance to get the brooders cleaned out since I worked all weekend. I don't think they can wait much longer.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. You'll feel much better once the brooders have been cleaned out ;)

Not counting me, we are up to 86 swaps. 14 more for 100. Come on everybody, you know you want to swap. Sign ups close in 2 hours 53 minutes.

there is a link to this somewhere in this thread i think (could be another thread i frequent tho) i'll search for it tomorrow after i've gotten some sleep. i do remember that you inject the dye around day 14 of incubation and food coloring gel works best for brightest colors. i've been wanting to try it myself. my cousins used to dye chicks regularly for 4H projects - the very first hens i ever owned were named blue, green, and pink (very original i know)

does the color fade with time or is it permanent?? this is how I got in to chickens you know

Their wing feathers are growing in white, so I would guess it is temporary. I never would have guessed they inject dye into the eggs, and I believe it is illegal in many states to sell colored chicks and ducks.

Thanks for the well wishes, guys. Now that I've gotten some Chloraseptic throat drops, ibuprofen and Imodium into me, I feel like a new woman.

Got some eggs mailed out today and I'll get to the brooders in just a bit.

I think you are right, but I was just asking for my own use. I would never sell colored chicks!!!!!!!!!!
