Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I just got back from my lunch break. I always try to go see the free range chickens on one particular street in West Sac for my lunch break; I've started bringing them treats. Actually, I've been bringing them tarts for about a month now... :p

Anyway, they know my car! Some of them come running down the street to get a tidbit from me. I'm terrible, I know, but I buy a McDouble from the dollar menu for them. (I eat the two pickles myself.). I feel bad when I run out, especially when I get back into my car and some of them are bold enough to come to the driver's door to look up at me with their little hopeful faces.

Certain ones get the best bits... Momma hens and their chicks get the cheesy meat bits. Growing chicks get meat bits. Pushy hens and greedy roosters get bits of bread.

This way I get my chicken "fix" during the week, as it's still dark when I leave for work and when I get home at night.

...and I am caught up again...

I go to see a doctor (or nurse practitioner) once a year, just to renew my Requip prescription (for Restless Leg Syndrome). That's it.

I went to see a young new doctor today. He and his wife are both physicians and new to the local clinic. B has seen his wife before and really liked her. Actually, I had no intention of going to see any doctor. They all ganged up on me around here, though. Mike, B, and Tyler, all threatened to take me to the ER. So, I agreed to an office visit.

I have been coughing my head off. It started a couple weeks ago, I suppose. It just keeps getting worse. If I dare to lay down, I have fits of coughing lasting forever. Last night I did get a few hours rest though. I took some NyQuil and slept in the recliner. I know my lungs are full of gunk. I can feel it.

So, I go to the doctor wanting some dang cough syrup..... that's all, just give me some cough syrup!
He doesn't like cough syrup! WHAT????? I want some cough syrup!

He proceeds to tell me that this gunk I have - started with a sinus infection that drained into my lungs and caused bronchitis. Bull-crap! I have never ever in my life had a sinus infection. NEVER! My ears started hurting today, too. Well now, I had suffered with earaches alot as a child, and a few times as an adult. He says my ears look fine. Well, then, why do they hurt? Yes, I had a headache (and I rarely ever have a headache). BUT, not a sinus headache. I know why I had a headache..... FROM COUGHING!

I also told him that the antibiotic I took in Iowa was Ceclor (as I am allergic to penicillin), and it was effective. "What?" he says. "That is not an antibiotic. It is a decongestant." No, sir, it is the antibiotic I took in the past. He looked it up. It wasn't on his cute little electronic gadget. So, he pulled out another thing a-ma-gig. "Oh, well, yes, it is in the cephalosporin family." YES, it is! "Oh well, the one I am prescribing is even better than that one."

So, here I am, at home, whining and complaining, with prescriptions for Prednisone, an antibiotic, and an inhaler.... AND NO COUGH SYRUP!
What's the prednisone for? I swear they prescribe that for everything. That stuff can make you feel wierd. I was on it for uber poison ivy and was high as a kite for 3 days, then when I finished the course I crashed big time. Poison ivy went away though.

This is very funny to me! I am across the cause way from you at the moment in my Office at UC Davis. I am about to walk to my Post Office box and I make sure every day to walk by the two houses that I know of that have chickens. I can see them from the front yards. I don't feed them though.

Bye,

Well, maybe if the thread promotes Brinsea enough that they see an increase in sales.. perhaps they'll add a different prize for next year.

I sure do wish I would have seen this sooner. I just didn't pay attention. Bad me! My bator is already full and I have shipping eggs coming the week of March 19th, so a few days late to participate. I just can't go get another bator at this time. I will be watching for this next year!
