Thank you! Vey helpful. I think I am going to get them set up like this on Tuesday night so I can make sure temp is ok then add the water before I go to work on Wednesday. I am tempted to do pedigree boxes too. With 6 or 7 different breeds in there I have no idea how I am going to keep track. I kind of hope by icelandics all hatch early just to get them out of the running. Lol

Cayuse here you go. I just made this so you can tell it doesn't take long. I do like using them because it helps keep the hatched chicks from using the unhatched eggs as footballs.

So I need some help and pictures if you have them would be great.
I have my eggs on a turner and know I will need to take them out on wed. Do you prop up the screen? How? Do you pt them in egg cartons? How do you cut them up? As in leave all 12 or in sets of 4 or what? Do you cut off the bottom? How much of the bottom?

I wait for my turner to be turned on one side all the way, then I just put them on their sides. Like dsgard said, you can use the liner in the bottom, that's also what I do. I find my liner at the dollar stores around here. Great deal. Let us know how you decided to do this, because if you go with the carton way, I would be interested in how that works..have been thinking about trying it..I hear a lot of folks do well.

Am I understanding correctly that we can do this to the egg carton and place the eggs in it at lockdown? Do I keep the air cell up like it has been or do I put them on their sides? (probably a stupid question

LOL are they hard to hatch? Didn't seem any different than chickens eggs to me or turkeys for that matter. I had them all in the same incubator and have had 10 of 12 chicks hatch, 5 of 5 ducks hatch and have 11 of 13 turkey eggs viable and doing well. I heard turkeys were hard too but...

Seems the same to me. I keep temps and humidity the same for them all and turn them 3 times a day by hand and in a LG incubator with no fan just still air. I have great hatches. I will try and remember to post pics tomorrow.

Congrats! Ducks are hard to hatch..aren't they? But, not for you! They are so darling..I love their little beaks and feet. Pictures??

Many people do it this way and have better success so I am going to try it.

If you put the egg on its side and gently wiglle it, will the end that needs to go up in the egg carton be a bit higher? I ask because it is nearly impossible to tell if the chick is upside down int the Marans eggs.

Is it better to always put the end with the air cell up in the egg carton?

I usually do this but the hatch that isn't happening is on it's side. I know that's not the problem because last hatch I only got 3 to start and 2 to hatch and they were on their sides. I do think they hatch better in the cartons usually though.
