. I remember all your tribulations from last year - do you expect another wet and buggy spring/summer?

I bought a place and moved, and now living in an area where buffalo flies shouldn't be a problem if this turns out to be another wet spring. Lots to do now that I own my own acreage, including building chicken pens, and I'm slow getting things done; hence less time to spend here.

ETA: I guess I can't say for sure that the buffalo gnats will not be a problem; however, I'm a about mile away from both Cedar Creek and North Henderson Creek and on high ground, which should protect me from heavy swarms. I did suffer some losses, right after I moved, when a canine ripped into the breeding pens. Kinda a bad start when a guy introduces himself to his new neighbors by knocking on their door to warn them that if their dog is on my place again, it will not be coming home alive.

Good HEAVENS!! In the new BYC format, I frequently jut go to threads I've been in forever...and hardly ever look at new stuff...been on the run lately.

I missed this completely!!

You know I'm in, and you know I'll run The Flapper Contest. Even better, I've now made my own cabinet incubator. If the main brand names are Sportsman and Dickey, I'm calling mine a Farmgirl!

So the Farmgirl Incubator holds ~150 eggs and I'll load it up. If you're interested in one of my breeds, let me know now about eggs so I can hold them for you.

I'll promote the hatchalong in my siggy, too!

I'll join in again this year. I jealously followed along as everyone hatched for New Year's, but DH expressly requested that we did not have chickens in the bathroom all winter. How silly. Anyway, I have the all-clear for spring, and I can't wait. I'll be getting EOs as well, but I am not sure if I will be able to time that exactly. I'll try, and I will probably set some EEs of my own for the poultry sale.

I'll run a contest this year and offer a prize. I think I'll offer a copy of Gail Damerow's Chicken Health Handbook, but I am not sure what the contest will be yet. I'll think about it and let you know in a few days. But it can be assigned to one of the weeks, whichever week ends up needing a prize.

I wish I could set my pages back to 50 posts per page as I had it on the old system. Flipping through all of the pages on the new system confuses me; I can't find anything. If Platinums can do it, that may be enough reason to upgrade in itself...

hi everyone time seems to go slow when you are waiting to set eggs and hatch. set 15 silkie eggs 76 1/2 hrs ago and time has started to feel like it has started to stand still. i want to say good luck on your hatches and getting tons of little cute fuzzy butts. so far i am up to 40 eggs will be more depending on if i have my second incubator avaliable or if it is at my sons school in his class room
