Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I was suppose to have some eggs hatch on the 26th that where under a broody. I broke down and candled today and all where clear. Those don't count against me but I sure was wanting those chicks. I gave her some eggs out of a bator that keeps going crazy in hopes they survive with a broody. The bator sure wasn't doing them any good. I have another that went broody. I plan to bring her in with the others in the coral and give her some eggs too. The broody that already had the hatch along eggs under her had some clears too. So I gave her some from that same bator. I need more broody's. I sure don't need more eggs right now.

ok my count after candeling i set 128 i have 74 developing all shipped eggs i had 30 that were clear, 20 that died early on and a few that died in the last day ot 2 and 4 with blood rings not bad for shiped eggs

I'm BUSHED! Long day at work... drill, fill, bill, did payroll, started tearing apart the office bathroom. I PRAY IT WILL BE DONE BY MONDAY MORNING... bought a new radio receiver for the office... DW took me to Wendy's for dinner. JBCB, Potatoe and a Frosty. Hit the spot.. did my chicken chores in the dark.

And since it was dark and I was tired I thought, I ought to cool off in the pool.. so I walked in up to my belly button and walked right back out. TOO COLD at this point. Got 8 eggs.

CE for the next three days. Oh JOY.

We now have more posts this hatch than last year and it won't be long until we have more views than the old fashioned broody hatch a long.

Burns looking much better tonight, and much less painful.

OK here's my candeling report. I set 47 barnyard mixed eggs from a friend's chickens and 6 of my little pullet eggs from my marans (which I didn't expect to hatch because they are brand new layers). All 47 of the barnyard mix eggs were clear. It looks like my friend has some fertility issues with her old rooster. Which is too bad cause I've hatched her eggs before and this roo makes very nicely colored and sweet birds.

Of the six little pullet eggs I tossed in, on a whim, I have 3 that are developing. I definitely won't be winning any prize for the best hatch! I'm so bummed!!! This has never happend to me before.

Now I'm left with just the three little pullet eggs for Easter!
