First time I had quail I had that concern. "Why isn't my roo crowing?" Believe me, he'll learn and he'll never shut up again. My rooster didn't crow until his 8th or 10th week.

Hahaha I’ll be prepared for to noise of the crowing thanks!

I see he left a present for you.

The males do crow or their typical reasons but sometimes I think they also crow to try to find another. So you might be able to reduce some of the crowing by having a friend with him. It can be another male or female, either one seems to reduce the amount of crying they make for trying to find another bird. But as for their evening or morning or all day-long or late into the night crowing that is not related to finding a bird, that is another matter!

Yes I manged to hatch 9 and we’re all healthy but unfortunately they died mabye from too hot of a lamp or not enough feed for them I didn’t realise how fast they matured and when their lamp needs to be reduced I wasn’t sure I’m not that experienced with quails it was my first time..most didn’t make it and died but him I have this guilt with me every day and I’m planning re incubating some friends for him... I learnt from my mistakes and I feel they are harder to keep than ducks? Or chicks ?
