One week old today!

These are Zaccheus' chicks, from the Sussex hens Rahab, Priscilla, and Joanna. I don't think any are from Hannah, as she's always laid smaller eggs, and the only egg that might have been hers was a 2 week quitter.

Here are all my "breeding" Speckled Sussex:

Peace in the coop is always a blessing!

Occasional chaos in my coop at the moment.

1 of the young cockerals has decided he will attempt to show his stuff. His crow has gotten better and he has been practicing his mating dance. It needs work. The older hens will just stare at him with their hackles raised. He takes off running!

The other 2 cockeral are just watching.

2 out of 3 five wks cockerels in one coop were missing last night. The 3rd was with the 9 wks CX in a crate. I had seen them an hour earlier when I did storm check.
I looked and didn't see them in the trees. Didn't see them at sunrise but they showed up.

The hens used to beat up Zaccheus when he was practicing being a roo. Eventually he grew up and they decided he was pretty handsome.

• Yellow - Dinah
• Blue - Julia

Boys won't be named, as they're headed for auction in mid August.
