I can't get to Knight's in Richmond until next week due to my exam schedule at school. If you don't mind asking that would be great, if you can't I will next week.

Eggs in the incubator but I had to start over as the temp. went haywire. So it will be iffy if they hatch saturday of that week. My luck they will hatch while I am gone. Bringing tote, and egg picking bags in chicken motif. If this heat ever lets up I might work on some stain glass suncatchers...but so far I haven't been able to stand working in the shop. I haven't really thought it out any futher than that...sorry.

if we do head up i am brining some chicks, buff orpingtons, mille fluer d'uccles, rir, barred rocks, cuckoo marans, a pair of rosecombs, possible goldlaced wyandottes, ee's, i do have a rainbow americana roo that needs a home or a pot,i have 2 bantam favorelle roo's started also looking for another home, these are sweet birds and if they are still here then i have a few australorp pullets left, and some straight run started birds, will need to take a peek see whats out there, i need to bring some money to get a chicken tote bag lol

I have a batch of EE's and some "surprise" chicks starting to hatch that I will be bringing, unless they are blue. Anything blue stays with me!!

Everyone should read this thread about Biosecurity.

It is very important that you quarantine your birds no matter the source and if you have even one sick bird, your moral obligation is not NOT sell, swap, trade or give away any birds from your flock until you isolate the problem and fix it. This is probably the main reason the rules and regs are so tight anymore, IMO.

Too many of our members have been devasted by bringing in a sick chick or hen. Don't take a chance on it happening to you!

i go to swaps once a month, i add and sell all the time, i have only had 1 incident in 4 yrs.
i believe this, take a good look at the birds, bright eyes, clean nose, check under wings for bugs, keep them seperate from you birds for a period of time to be sure they arent sick and arent carrying bugs,
common sense goes a long way.

Thank you Terrielacy, your reminder is welcome. Once many years ago I picked up a canary from a breeder, beautiful birds, singing and doing cart wheels off the perch, a handsome male to go with my girls.
It wasn't long and my whole avian cage was wheezing and gasping for breath. My elder male was blue beaked and drained of all energy.
Took him to the vets with pneumonia and tracheal mites. We had 20 canaries, .10 tuberculin guage needless syring, 2 times a day with Ivomectin, and 4 times a day with 1 drop of Amoxicillin for the infection this all created.
We did not loose one bird, only by the grace of god. No one wants to take home lice, scaley foot issue or if canaries can get it, probably chickens can get trachial mites.
Use caution and care, if your up to selling and buying, then why not keep them in cages like rabbit hutches, keep them in a separate house and you can still enjoy them.
Please do not take this as critisism, I have done my share of no no's, looking back it was dumb luck.
So again Moderators , thanks.
