Well, what will we do with the chinese auction money? I thought that we could give it to the fair for helping provide a spot for us. If it is a large sum of money from the chinese/silent auction, the split the money between them. I am not sure how or what seeings I usually avoid dealing with money!
I do have a lady next door to me that owns a basket making shop where you can get supplies. I asked if she would want to come along and talk baskets with everyone.
Also,I have a friend that does Reiki (sp) on human and animals if anyone is interested. She is also a psychic medium and if its ok with everyone, I asked if she was free that day to come. (with subject to change)
This pal will also be bringing some plants to share in the auction.
Thanks,
Kel

Your friend that does Reiki sounds interesting. I attended a woman's get away weekend with some of my horse friends and we had a Reiki instructor that worked with us as we rode. It was a very helpful weekend to explore this technique. Would she be interested in doing a short talk on Reiki or her psychic talents? I would find it fair if she wanted to charge people if she wanted to work with individuals.

I would think the same with the basket lady. Is she iinterested in talking about her craft? Or selling her baskets? Heck I would like to meet both of them even if they are just interested in selling their products and not doing any demonstration.

As far as the food vendor, I think the original thought was that the 4 H group would provide the food and keep any profit that they made. So I would encourage the same outlook for HennyRoo. It is going to be a tough job just to guess how much food she will need to supply with this being the first event. I believe her offer was to provide the food with any money collected to go to her rescue. She is a legitimate rescue and has provided a link to her site.

As far as raffle, auction money etc, maybe a ceiling amount could be set for the amount to returned back to the fair grounds if there is a concern that this will be a big money maker.

And ideas for distribution of the remaining funds decided by the members attending. Be it returning some to members that have purchased items out of pocket, or is there some way to hold money's for next years event? Maybe asking other Chickenstock event holders what they did with the excess funds? Donate to local 4H or other youth/poultry group, is there such a thing as a poultry rescue group? I know some of the humane societies have chickens and ducks on their websites.

Any money that we do raise I would love to donate to the fairgrounds for letting us use it.

I just don't want to rely on any money that we havent made yet.

ETA:
We could always hold onto all funds as well to keep in an account until next years show or a show later this year.

Very true, I just wanted to get the whole thing thought out prior to the day it happens.

The ladies that I have coming with baskets and Reiki would be more then happy to speak about their abilities. That is so nice.

Hope everyones 4th is going spictacular! (we - well, DH is building another containment facility for the meat birds...I just do the heavy looking on, feed him and give him smooches when I pass by to keep encouraging him)

Hope you all had a good 4th of July!!

Thats right back to planning.

Ok hours 9-1...
Food is coming from equine????

No set up fees but raffle money is going to fairgrounds or am I holding it to go towards the next chickenstock???

I have posted a flyer in a couple local feed stores and I am going to keep posting them

Sounds great to me. Spirit of Hope is your food vendor if that helps. I couldn't get the flyer to open on my home computer, but I am headed into UMA to do some research for a class project so I will try to open it there.

It sounds like we will allow crafters. Do we want to ask for a donation for the auction or raffles? I have had a couple of people ask me and I really don't know what to tell them.

I will be recieving 2 baskets from my sis-in-law for the auction (raffle) and Donna the friend that will Demonstrate will be giving a basket kit to raffle. I will also be picking up different items from a store at a discount rate, to go on the table for the auction (raffle). Also the equine group offered a pie, multiple types of plants, Reiki and psychic either healings, discussion, readings from another friend of mine. She also does animal healings (she is not 100% sure, needing to check schedule).
I have material to make little cloth bags/purse and I plan on putting wheat, oat, some thing edible for our chicken pals.
For the chinese Auction (raffle) table anything is welcome! Who knows what we can raffle off, lol!!!
